Found a camera in my unit

Airbnb won't do anything about it, clearly violating policy, open to a lawsuit but will follow up with payment method to get my money back. Unacceptable from hosts, disgusting from Airbnb

@David13735 did you report it to the police?

I couldn’t report it in time I was leaving the country and I’m not familiar with their processes.. Airbnb said there’s no violation of their policy which left me baffled since it was inside the unit not outside. It’s just frustrating, and I do not want to chargeback since I want to keep using Airbnb in the future

If true, this is a violation of Airbnb's policies regarding use of recording devices. Are you sure  there was a camera inside? Seems like you did report it to Airbnb from your post and they said there was no violation of policy? Airbnb takes violations of their camera policies very seriously. It is doubtful they would say there was no violation when responding to your complaint if there truly was an issue. Of course, we are not privy to your communications with Airbnb, so can't really comment on that.

I will say that many guests have claimed there was a camera inside, only to find out it is an exhaust fan, or other similar item and NOT a camera. I have even heard a Host state that a guest claimed a fake owl on a fence post to scare away birds near the pool was a camera overlooking the pool! (no camera). Sometimes guest see a red power on dot on a device and think it is a camera. Sometimes guests will make fake claims about cameras inside in an attempt to get a refund for a stay they have completed.

Your most recent stay review (1-star) mentions no AC in hallways/elevator, and one elevator not working, but nothing about hidden inside cameras?
