Guest Altering Stay for less nights after checking in

Guest Altering Stay for less nights after checking in

Hello, im just wondering if its normal for guests to reduce the length of their stay after checking in, no fault of the host, they misread their flight and relised they would actually need to leave the day prior in order to get to the airport as they have a 12am flight . I have a strict cancellation policy and this means that they are basically cancelling the last night less that 14 days before arrival .They have already checked in for their 5 night stay and i saw the request to alter the booking come up. Not sure if i should accept. Any suggestions?

I would accept and refund @Teanna6.

It's the best way to ensure a positive outcome for everyone.

You could consider a promotion with some discount to resell the canceled night.

Personally I wouldn't accept the alteration as you shouldn't be out of pocket because the guest made a mistake with their dates .

however if you are a newer host you could consider accepting the amendment as @Shelley159  suggests to try and ensure a good review.

Hi @Teanna6

Shelley and Helen have both shared how they would approach this situation, and as you can see it's a subjective decision; I'd love to know what you decided to do in the end?

Let us know how it goes, or if you need any more help 🙂

Thanks,

Emilie
