What do you to create a 'WOW' factor for when your guests arrive?

We know that cleanliness, hygiene and sanitisation have always been a big issue when it comes to guest satisfaction.  What else do you do to show that you've gone above and beyond to make your guests stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible?

I try to make every stay unique and personalized. This weekend we are hosting a couple and the husband is celebrating his 60th birthday.  With the wife’s knowledge, I’ve baked a special cake. And as always, fireplace is on, lighting is perfect and soft music playing.  We will also make an outdoor fire for their arrival and there is a carafe of warm mulled wine.

Hi Sarah,  I apologise for any confusion caused.  I work for a cleaning company that help hosts prepare their properties for incoming guests.  So any advice or ideas given here will not be used in any blog or article.  But, will indirectly be helping other hosts.
