We have a very strict no animal policy that is clear in our house rules. We had a guest (who is sadly a fellow host) who snuck in her dog during her stay. We confronted her and demanded an extra cleaning fee which she refused to pay for it. In her bio it clearly talks about said dog that she loves to travel with, but in her messages told us it was her dad's dog. Conveniently, shortly after this ordeal she deleted the portion of her bio that talks about the dog. Either way AirBNB asked for her to pay us the cleaning fee to where she changed her story to where the dog is a service animal.
According to AirBNB's Accessibility Policy:
A guests service dog must not:
- Allowed in a public space without being harnessed, leashed, or tethered and not under the guest’s control
https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/1869/accessibility-policy
We have multiple video evidence of them letting the dog out the front door unleashed/tethered/harnessed/D. All of the above and leave the dog unattended. So the "service animal" was just roaming around our front yard unattended and untethered. She tried to report us for video surveillance to which we discussed with AirBNB that it is from our Ring doorbells that is disclosed in our listing which AirBNB told us that is allowed.
Has anyone else experienced this type of situation before? I'm appalled that a host would treat another host this way and blatantly lie. We've been talking with AirBNB trying to get this resolved and so far no luck. Any advice?
