Guests leaving unattended fires.

I am currently hosting two people for 2 days. I have a ring at the front and back porches as I have a charcoal grill and a wood fire pot available for guest use. I have a sign stating to always stay with your fire. When my ring was alerted I checked and noticed the grill lit and unattended and then noticed the lower yard fire pot with wood and lit. Also unattended and a citronella candle on a table lit. Also unattended. How do I handle this situation without making my guests feel uncomfortable that I've noticed this on my ring. I am risking a bad review by calling them out on obvious dangerous behavior.

Send them an email through Airbnb telling them what you observed and that this is in the house rules. Explain why it's a safety concern and if it happens again they will not be able to use this amenity. I would also make sure you have a working fire extinguisher nearby and offer to show them where it is and how to use it. Watch them for other risky behaviors.  People that engage in this type of dangerous behavior often engage in other dangerous behaviors I've observed. If I stop them from one dangerous behavior on my farm they often find another. Let's hope your guests aren't one of those.

I forgot to mention I've been doing this for 15 years now. If you want to keep your property safe ditch the real candles in favor of solar candles outside and battery operated ones inside and only communicate with the guest on issues like this on Airbnb so there is a record.

The guests denied leaving the fire unattended. They have checked out. Trashed the home, literally ..garbage everywhere, didn't flush toilets...horrible. BUT the worst part is they stole a antique camera of my late father's. Which I will never see again. They Smoked inside the home which is absolutely not permitted and smoked pot on the sun porch. Home stunk. Broke every single house rule I have which are very very basic. I have hosted for 9 years. This was the worst.
