Hi all,
two guests wanted to come several hours earlier and leave several jours later than check in and check out time- for one night. Your space is free the day befire and after.
How do you manage such a situation?
Regards, Anja
Your check-in and especially check-out time is IMO generous (2 PM and 1 PM)
Guests should be happy with that.
They must provide a good reason for wanting extension !
I looked at your listing, it is a new one.
I suggest to add te "no-parties" and the "smoking allowed/not allowed" options to the houserules.
Hi @Anja217
We always receive booking requests like this guests asking for an early check-in and then leaving just a few hours later to catch their flight. Most of the time, I’m happy to accommodate these requests if the schedule allows it, especially when I don’t have an outgoing guest checking out that same day. I understand how helpful flexible check-in can be for travelers with long layovers, early arrivals, or late-night flights, so whenever possible, I try to make their trip a little more convenient and stress-free.
Dear all, thank you for your suggestions. I would not care about this topic if it is like Can we come two hours esrlier and leave two hours later and I think it is good to be flexible. Nevertheless in future in such a case If someone asks to come four hours earlier and wants to leave an undefinied time later (instead of 1 am "in the evening") I will ask them for reservation of two nights or to respect the conditions or to search for another opinion. Obviously, there was no flight or jetlag.
Is that too harsh?
Hello @Anja217, two experienced hosts have shared their suggestions. Please keep us posted when you have the time to read through them; we'd love to hear how you have decided to manage the situation.
Regards,
Our check in is 4 pm, which may seem late but we have good reasons for that. I found that where possible and with sufficient notice I am happy to negotiate a couple of hours earlier without extra charge. We have on one occasion had a guest pay for a night before checking in early morning. You could ask for an additional payment for the ‘extra’ hours. I found that by adding the word ‘available’ to my check in message, I have fewer requests for earlier check ins. (Check in is available from…) Our check out is before 11am which is later than most places.
