HOST asking ID for verification???

My host wants my passport/ID and said it’s required information. Is that true? Im not comfortable with sharing my personal information.

Some Countries regulation requires host t keep details of guest staying at their facilities for security reasons and follow up of any issues happening. However, they need to comply with data protection regulations which may include the facility registering as data collector and processor. May be ask facility requiring your ID have registered with relevant data authorities or regulators.
