As a medical marijuana patient. I’m subject to harassment, that’s exactly what happened during my stay. I reach out to Airbnb support, the rep was none helpful to the concern, they’re very policy driven without including harassment policies. It’s sad to deal with them not helping on top of the language barrier. I cannot control how it smells, I had a neighbor that is staying at the house out of 12 people staying come to my room with one of the managers in her pijamas, she was so quick to tell me how fast the owner would kick me out for smoking, after telling her and the manager repeatedly that I hadn’t smoked and invited them both to check the unit for themselves. I mentioned my medical marijuana card, and they asked me for it. I’m not subject to give them proof, not only gave them the proof which is protected by HIPAA. I even shared it with Airbnb who later closed the case to ensure my PI is not on the platform. This was mishandled and I want a full refund.
A74066179 - Senior case manager Shil advised there’s nothing Airbnb can do about a harrasment case. He calls me to harass me about the case, telling me to close the case when my issue has not been resolved.
I'm confused? Why would they target you if you hadn't smoked inside the room or in the home? Why would you feel the need to show them your medical marijuana card if you hadn't smoked inside?
BTW, is the home listed as "non-smoking"? If so, that would include ANY form of smoking, including medical marijuana.
When you have 2 people in your room, not believing that they smell product not smoke. It’s hard
No smoking in the unit of any kind. As I stated, they smelled my product as I was arranging my stuff. I did not smoke. I want to make it very clear; I didn’t smoke in the unit. None at all. It was day 2 of move in; not even once I smoked in the house or unit. I adhere to all rules. I even gave the host who wasn’t here about the occurrence the phone number to the property manager where I was. Marijuana smells, inevitably, and I can’t control that. But confusing smell for smoke is crazy to me.
Yes...that is a problem with marijuana and the smell must have been strong enough that others were able to detect it (airtight containers?)
You might have to figure out a way to keep the product sealed so that it cannot be detected; especially in a home share environment.
I'm assuming you were meaning to consume the product away from the home? Even if stored in an airtight container, if you open it inside, others in the home can probably detect the odor.
Keep in mind:
"A medical marijuana card does not protect you in a state where it is illegal, and it is a federal crime to transport cannabis across state lines. Each state has different laws and, even with a medical card, you could face criminal charges for possession in a state that does not recognize your card."
