Help please! How do I pay Airbnb money I owe them for a refund?

I had a guest book for 2 months in November, make a partial payment,  but had to cancel one day after check in. We agreed fees amicably, she paid for a few days and got refunded by Airbnb for the difference no problem.

The problem is, after the check in date, Airbnb sent me the payment as usual. And around the same time, I froze the listing and will not be taking any more bookings going forward (moving back in to the property).

I know that usually the money would have been deducted from future payments, but I wont be receiving any. So how can I pay them back?

Thank you in advance to the community for your help.

@Phil3206 Personally, I wouldn't concern myself with it. They hand out refunds to guests for so many bogus reasons, depriving hosts of what they should rightfully be paid, I'd look at it as payback 🙂

And if you ever decide to host again, I'm sure you'll see it come out of future payouts.

Yes, an interest free loan, but unfortunately for me a loan none the less, to be paid in full. I dont plan on hosting again any time soon, so would rather just get it sorted and not have to worry about it again.

@Phil3206  Then I guess you'll have to contact customer service to find out how to do that.

You may be the first host in the history of Airbnb who felt a moral obligation to pay Airbnb back voluntarily 🙂

@Phil3206 Are you absolutely sure this isn’t money that’s actually still owing to your guest? Seems odd and unlikely that Airbnb would make a mistake like that. I would check with the guest first to make sure they received everything back that you agreed on.
Otherwise I suppose the only thing you can do is contact CS, but good luck getting anywhere easily with those third party independent contract workers who know little to nothing of the inner workings of Airbnb. May take time and patience. Which in this case is perhaps a positive as you can earn a little interest for your troubles. 😆
