Hello,
Host (Italy) asks for passport photo. I asked why and response was "for tax purposes".
Is it really obligatory to provide photo? Why can I not just send the info (ID, ... whatever is needed). Why photo?
(Plus it is 2 months in advance from my booking. May I send it later? Or they have to provide my info as soon as possible?)
Thanks

Hello @Mariami15
Yes it is a legal requirement for hosts and hotels to collect ID information from guests which has to be remitted within 24 hours of the start of the stay.
Here is a previous post on the subject but you could tell your host that you'd rather send the information nearer the time (in case you want to cancel for example)
Hope you feel more reassured😊

How lovely to see that Joelle was able to reassure you ahead of your trip! I'm curious whereabouts in Italy are you heading?
I visited Rome a few years ago and absolutely loved it. 😍
