Host is asking for my passport number two months later?

Hello, I had a recent stay in Peru which went fine. The host is now asking for my passport number, a couple months after the trip has come and gone, apparently in order to do her taxes. Just wondering if this is legit in some countries. I have stayed in many Airbnbs in Peru and no one has ever asked this after the fact. For check in yes passport is usually requested/required. The trip went fine and she was a good host. We fling around our passport numbers a lot with Airbnb international,  just wondering if I can decline or should I just give it to her.

Thanks for any guidance.

@Christopher64  If local laws require the host to collect passport numbers, the host screwed up by failing to do this at check-in. You're free to ignore or decline the request.

Ask the host to send you links to the legislation so you can validate their request for personal information.  If it doesn't appear valid, then refuse.
