I guess it's human nature, when you do something, you are critical of the way others do the same thing. I have do doubt been guilty of it myself!
But I think as hosts we should try to be less critical of others who are maybe doing their best.
A recent experience, while giving me a good chuckle made me realise, when playing the part of guest, I should probably keep my mouth shut!
I had this guest stay for one evening and on departing the next morning she offered me a list of hosting tips on how I could improve my listing, make it more user friendly, she volunteered that she was also an Airbnb host!
I thanked her for her suggestions, she was a nice guest and left the cottage clean and tidy, we wished each other well and she went on her way.
I had an hour or so to spare so I thought I would check out her profile and see if I could learn a thing or two from that.
The first thing that struck me was, she had an overall rating of 4.2, one of the lowest still active profiles I have ever seen .
Then I checked out her reviews! These two popped up in the first half a dozen........

I like to learn, I do value feedback if it's constructive, and I will take on her suggestions, but from her hosting style, I not quite sure I can learn much! I had a bit of chuckle and thought....'well ain't that a case of the pot calling the kettle black'!!
As a host, when travelling it's probably best to leave our 'critical hat' at home and just enjoy the experience as most of our guests do!
Cheers.......Rob
