Hi Everyone! I wanted to share a recent experience and see if anyone has dealt with something similar—or has advice on how to...
Dear Airbnb Team,
As long-time and thoughtful hosts, we deeply appreciate the tools Airbnb provides for managing our listing and supporting guest experiences. However, we’d like to submit a feature request that would significantly improve flexibility and fairness for both hosts and guests:
Please consider allowing hosts to set different cancellation policies for specific date ranges within a single listing.
For example, we recently needed to adjust our cancellation policy during a high-demand local event (Miami University’s graduation). Like many hosts, we want to offer a more flexible policy during low-season periods while enforcing a stricter one for major events when demand is high and cancellations can be very costly for us. Unfortunately, Airbnb’s current system only allows a single cancellation policy per listing, regardless of the date.
This lack of flexibility forced us to:
• Block those dates on Airbnb,
• Redirect bookings to Vrbo (which does allow date-specific cancellation rules),
• And manage calendar syncing manually to avoid conflicts.
We want to be clear that Airbnb has always been our preferred platform, both in terms of guest communication and overall host experience. However, as we continue to encounter these limitations — especially when other platforms provide solutions — we’re starting to feel less supported as hosts, which is beginning to change our perspective.
We understand the importance of consistency for guests, but empowering hosts with more control over cancellation policies (especially for peak seasons or major local events) would help maintain listing accuracy, trust, and booking volume.
Thank you for considering this request. It would make a meaningful difference for professional and part-time hosts alike.
Warm regards,
Martin & Marie *

Hosts have been asking for a seasonal cancellation policy for a looooong time. I hear rumors that a new cancellation policy of 14days is being tested, but not yet available in the US.
Yes @Martin5977 - totally agree with you and have been asking for years for this. I host in Cannes, France that have several very important events per year where guests book many, many months in advance along with their flights so last minute cancellations are impossible to fill.
I will send again my feedback on the link that @Elisa mentions but I wouldn't hold my breath. It seems lately that Airbnb are no longer listening to what hosts have to say and just do their own thing to complicate things a little more for host with each new release, never addressing the issues that hosts have to deal with from the previous one.
