Hi, experienced host here.
Been super host for nearly 9 years but lost it last year because I had to cancel a booking (it was within hours of guest booking - my sync failed to another booking platform so calendar clashed unfortunately). But it was too late, Airbnb treats a cancellation by host as a big deal, which I get and accept.
I don't believe I cancelled anymore to my knowledge but my cancellation rate still shows 3%, above the 1% allowable for super host status. So my questions are:
I thought with more bookings since the one cancelled late last year, it would reduce my cancellation rate % signficantly. Or is it because we only do weekend bookings given its a large property, that it's going to take me another year to get superhost back?
Some insights from experienced hosts most welcome as I couldn't find anything in the help pages on this!
Kind regs

@Mary1523 Cancellation rate is calculated in the same way each quarter with the number of cancellations in the previous 12 months divided by the number of stays. As such if your bookings are fairly constant then the cancellation will feature in 4 quarters of statistics so you will have a similar rate for a year until the one cancellation drops out of the equation.

@Mike-And-Jane0 Thanks for replying. So if i understand correctly, you are saying that basically I have to wait a whole year cycle before that cancellation is nulled out?
But that doesn't seem to explain why the rate stays the same at around 3% quarter after quarter and yet I consistently get more bookings which I thought would mean the cancellation rate would decrease over time?
Did I misunderstand?
Thanks so much! It's exasperating to be penalised for 1 cancellation and get emails from airbnb telling me how to be a better host!
Thanks MK
BTW (interestingly loss of superhost hasn't materially affected bookings yet)
