Incomplete listing and Airbnb favors hosts interests

I was clearly subject to fraud in a travel arrangement I made in Canada. Lack of transparency as new house rules you learn about after you pay the money to the host. I traveled to Canada for business and was informed after booking that I will have no access to mail box and keys will remain with host. I asked for immediate cancellation, airbnb said it’s not their business and I have to contact host. I agreed with host that she will check her mailbox for me. Now i have a parcel that she assumes doent have time to bring me. Now i am paying the tax for airbnb low transparency ( mailbox policy was not in the listing ) and the host poor commitment. I am checking out early and my 70 dollars parcel will be in the possession of the host to sell or enjoy!! Fraud!!!!

@Ahmed558   I am surprised that you thought you could have anything mailed to an address that is not yours. No, hosts do not allow renters to use their address for deliveries. The onus was on you to ask permission to have something mailed to said address.

It’s mentioned in my message that we agreed they check the mailbox for me and deliver my stuff. Now they changed their mind in the middle of my stay

You will have to ask the host in advance if it's OK that you have a parcel delivered.

As mentioned, she said she will check the mailbox for me. Now they pretend they can’t!!

Agreed with the others. I do have it written in my house rules that guests are not to receive mail or packages here without prior consent, but that's a pretty standard thing so a lot of hosts will not mention it on the listing. Have you ever considered how much letting every guest do this would open up the host to scammers?

You are a guest, not a resident. One should never expect to receive mail or packages at someone else's address without asking them first so, if that was a deal breaker for you, you really should have double checked this with the host.

Once I realized that and asked for cancelling my booking on the same day, they said sorry it’s too late.
