Incorrect Location Info Showing on Listing – Anyone Had Success Fixing This?

 

Hi fellow hosts,
I could really use some advice. Airbnb has added a note at the top of my listing that says "9 min walk from the lake – Mansel Lake."

 

The problem? We’re actually right on the lakefront – our cottage sits directly on Rebecca Lake, not Mansel Lake, and certainly not a 9-minute walk away.

I’ve called support about 10 times over the past three months, and every time I’m told it’s been escalated to the tech team. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, and this inaccurate info is likely confusing guests and impacting bookings.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before and actually gotten it resolved? I’d really appreciate any tips or insights.

That sounds incredibly frustrating — especially when you're doing everything right and the system is working against you. Guests rely heavily on location info, so I completely understand your concern about how this might be affecting bookings.

While I haven’t experienced this exact issue, I’ve heard of similar situations where incorrect location data took a long time to fix. A few things that might help:

Follow up through Airbnb's Twitter/X support (@AirbnbHelp) – Some hosts have had quicker results there when email or phone support wasn’t moving things forward.

Document the error clearly in your listing – Until Airbnb corrects the info, consider adding a note in your listing description or welcome message that clearly states the correct lake and confirms your cottage is lakefront on Rebecca Lake.

Ask for a case ID and request updates in writing – This creates a clearer paper trail and may help with accountability.

Post on the Airbnb Community Center (which you're doing now – great step!) – Sometimes public visibility helps move things forward faster.

Oh my goodness Effie!  We have been dealing with the exact same issue on 2 of our properties!!!!  A highlight was added on 2 of our listings - 13 minute walk to a specific beach, the other 15 minute to the same specific beach.  However, we are ACROSS the street from the beach!  I have been dealing with customer support since April 17th and getting nowhere!  Beyond frustrated!

I know - it is so incredibly frustrating!!!!

Perhaps @Rebecca could forward these 2 listings to the appropriate Team at Airbnb. Looks like the same issue with proximity callouts assigned to wrong feature (lake).
