Insurance...

Hello!

I live in a flat within a house, and we have buildings insurance generally for the house. If I start hosting, do I need new hosting insurance to make sure I'm covered separately as a host? Scared of a worst case scenario and someone burns the whole building down and somehow I'm not covered by insurance.

Excellent question! My suggestion would be to call your insurance agent and ask. There are many risks in opening one's home to the public as a lodging business. Your agent could also have an objective look at the building policy, what it covers and what the gaps are.

Have you checked the lease of your flat to see if you are allowed to do STR @Lana1361 ?some leases preclude running an STR or a business .

you would need home insurance for STR and would need to check with your management company for the flat to see running an STR would mean it would invalidate a building insurance claim

Hi @Lana1361 😊

Thank you for asking this here!

Have you been able to call your agent, as our host suggested?

Looking forward to hearing what you discovered.
