KYC Requirements: NO WARNING
"Good Morning, Superhost! Your payments have been frozen and your calendar is locked. Drop everything this instant and complete our mandatory host profile with a bunch of information about yourself that we already know, as well as some other things that we have never asked you about. And you get to use an interface that requires 840 screen swipes in a row to communicate your date of birth. Until you do this, you are out of business as an Airbnb host. Love always, Airbnb."

Hi @Cal-and-Colleen0 , I understand how frustrating it can be to face payment freezes and calendar blocks. Were you able to reach out to Customer Support and see if payouts were successfully released to your account after KYC verification?
Please keep us updated!

@Cal-and-Colleen0
I had the exact same thing happen to me and my listing.
I first got an email "Urgent" that I needed to update my listing information. At first I proceeded with caution and verified that is was from Airbnb.
I have also had to upload a government ID twice before this.
You are correct that they do require the Host to verify their personal identity. I wasn't required to upload an ID, that was already on file.
I was also required to specify the kind of listing, if I was a professional host or something more of a part time thing.
They do this because some municipalities require a listing to include a STR permit or license, so by law Airbnb has to comply with this.
Other host might also not be paying their taxes, especially if they are live or are hosting in a different country or state from which they are a citizen or resident.
The main reason though is likely that Airbnb has to keep scammers off the platform so they can't keep creating new accounts, or scammers who claim they weren't paid. It's being updated also because now there are more options for payouts and cohost.
I found it very intuitive and easy to use. I did choose that I was a professional host and it required me to upload proof, which was very convenient, as I have both a license and occupational permit. As stated some municipalities require listing to display a STR permit. Ours for example requires the STR permit ID # to be displayed on the first page of the listing.
I would imagine if there ever is an issue with a listing, this would be important if guest file a lawsuit, or if there are some other legal issues.
I honestly don't see the problem as Airbnb needs to be very vigilant with verifying host identification.
* I also regularly get guest who request to book, that Airbnb requires them to verify their ID within 12 hours, and guest also don't want to do this. Host don't even get a notification for booking request. If I happen to see it, I send a message that its just Airbnb requirement and host have no settings for this, that they verify both host and guest ID on their own and host don't have access to guest ID.
Although I usually just hope they don't and it expires. If people are that parinoid or lazy to verify their ID, I rather not host them anyway.
