Has anyone else had this happen to them? I also wonder how anyone is supposed to avoid this under airbnb current policy of deleting reviews from cancelled guests.
Our airbnb was cancelled less than 12 hours before checkin of Christmas day. Apparently there was a leak. We flew 3500 miles to stay for 5 weeks but in the end we could only afford to stay for a week and then fly home. I left a review but airbnb removed it. To my horror, the host also cancelled two other people in different countries over same period. Their reviews? Also deleted within 24 hours. (But I have screenshots). In case at least, Airbnb also allowed them to relist their property immediately.
Ultimately, we believe airbnb is profiting from allowing hosts on their site that persistently cancel at the last minute to stay on the site. If anyone else has suffered this, please let me know. We will be looking into group litigation through the Irish courts.
@Nathan3538 Another example of Aircover for guests being as useless as a chocolate teapot.
Do let us know how your court case goes.
Sorry for your awful experience
Airbnb should have found you alternative accommodation and had the host who cancelled cover it @Nathan3538
sorry to hear you weren't offer it
if your review broke Airbnbs review policy they will remove I.
It was Christmas and there wasn't anything else short if double the price for the 5 weeks.
They said my review was retaliatory. The other two peoples reviews, I don't know. I think the customer service rep was confused about their own policy though. Two other CS people reinstated it. The host won in the end though I guess and I haven't been able to get it back.
