Next step- host not responding

We rented a place in Mexico for December.  We messaged the host in the AirBnb app.  He did not respond.  We tried messaging the help center.  They told us to call him.  His number is Not a working number.  We waited the 5 days the help center said to wait.  We tried messaging the help center again and they aren’t responding.  We called Airbnb 3 times and was hung up on by the machine every time.   What do I do next?!

What are this hosts recent reviews like? What are you trying to reach the host about? @Amanda1560

you could try Airbnb on their social media - can’t see why they asked you to wait five days

We need to know if the WiFi works.  I am a physician and will need access and our daughters will need it if they are going to stay longer than a week (we rented for a month) as one is in college and one works remotely.  We are unable to buy their tickets until we know.

That the Wifi "works" may not be what you are used to- it may work, but be quite slow or there may be limited, rather than unlimited data. So if and when you do make contact with the host, try to get some indication of what kind of service you can expect. And even if they do have high speed, unlimited Wifi, be aware that the infrastructure in Mexico isn't all that great, so there can be outages which are beyond the host's control.

You can also buy a Mexican SIM card for your phone if your phone is unlocked, and put internet time on it, which would be cell-based rather than Wifi, and tether your phone as a hotspot to a laptop. This is actually how I get my internet, as there aren't any phone lies out to where I live. It's a expensive way to get internet, though, if you have to do things which are heavy data sucks, like Zoom calls, and you wouldn't be able to stream Netflix or anything or you'll motor through the data really fast.

And are you sure you are dialing the host's number correctly? From the US; it would be 011(or +1)-52- three digit area code- seven digit number. @Amanda1560
