No Refund Policy Strict?

No Refund Policy Strict?

Hello, I recently booked an Airbnb for the end of August for a couple days. I browsed through the terms very quickly as I had already been looking at this location (I know this is on me to pay closer attention). After booking, something came up and I am no longer able to make the trip. As such, I tried to cancel the reservation and get a refund, however, I was not aware that the specific location I booked has a no-refund policy and they only want to refund me 1/4 of my reservation. The booking is still a month and a half out and the host is not willing to cooperate, as I agreed to their refund policy when booking. Is there anything I can do, as this emergency came up and Airbnb says the host would need to cancel the reservation for me to get a full refund?

@Jose9762 Unfortunately, as you already pointed out, it is the responsibility of the guest to fully read the listing which includes the cancellation policy. When confirming a reservation you are agreeing to that policy. The only time this can be overridden is if your emergency falls under the Major Disruptive Events Policy, which I will link below.

Here is what I would suggest, and what I offer as a host. I ask the guest to cancel, and if I am able to rebook the dates, I refund them for the rebooked dates. Perhaps you can contact the host and see if they would be agreeable to this.
