Hi. I am new to Airbnb and have gotten my first booking today (YAY!!). I cannot find out how and when I can expect to see payment (I believe that I set payment to go to a checking account). Also, how can I be sure that I have a security deposit request?

Airbnb doesn't allow Hosts to collect a security deposit. They replaced that with Aircover's Host Damage Protection & Liability Insurance. There are lots of terms, conditions and exclusions, so it's advisable to read about those. I always recommend Hosts get their own Short Term Rental insurance and not rely on Aircover. Hi @Laurie883,
Congratulations on your first booking — that’s such an exciting milestone! 🎉
Just to echo what @Joan2709 shared, you’ll typically receive your first payout 24 hours after your guest checks in. From the second booking onward, payouts usually start processing faster, depending on your payment method. Since you’ve linked a checking account, it may take a day or two for the funds to appear, especially for your first transaction.
As for the security deposit, Airbnb no longer allows hosts to manually set one. Instead, they now use AirCover for Hosts, which provides built-in damage protection and liability coverage. It's always smart to read the fine print, as Joan mentioned, and many experienced hosts also carry their own short-term rental insurance for added peace of mind.
You’re off to a great start — if you ever need help with your listing description, guest communication tips, or anything else along the way, the community here is incredibly supportive.
Wishing you many happy bookings ahead!
Thanks!
