I’ve hosted lots of guests who were new to Airbnb, and they have all been great guests. Better than some experienced guests with 5 star reviews.
When receiving a request from a ”newbie”, I first consider the tone of the initial message. Then reply with maybe a question or two about the guest/stay, and or offer some information that they need to respond to. Like ”did you notice my place is 45 min from the city centre by bus/train”, or ”will you be ok with the sleeping loft”.
I feel it is not so important WHAT I ask (I don’t need to know their profession, or where they live). I just want to make them send me another message, to get a feeling about what kind of guest they might be, and their expectations.
Good luck!
Some guests, particularly those new to the Airbnb platform, may not have any reviews yet but everyone has to start somewhere, just as we did when we first became hosts.
Politely ask about their travel plans, reason for visiting, and who will be staying. See if they have a verified ID (Airbnb shows verification badges).
Hope this helps.
