Questionable Guest Behaviors

How does a host deal with these issues?

1. Guest staying for 3 days brings in a month's worth of laundry and uses MY laundry detergent for about a dozen loads of clothes! Do I need to put limitations of laundry use in my listing?

2. Guest carries multiple loads of laundry from the dryer to the car, and then changes clothes in the driveway! This was done upon checkout of the guest so I don't know that there is anything that can be done about it.  I'm thankful that my neighbors did not witness this and complain (I'm the only Airbnb on the block).

For homeshare guests I say I. My house rules they can do one wash for every five days , for guests staying a minimum of five days @Tom552 

If you don't restrict use you can't really complain.

Agree with @Helen3 's advice.

I would also only provide laundry soap for one load. You will still need to put in the restrictions that @Helen3 mentions in your House Rules, as the guest could just go out and buy their own soap and do multiple loads.

Many Hosts provide guests with a written list of FAQs regarding important topics and also any important House Rules. They ask guests to sign a copy and provide another copy or them to keep and refer to. 

I like @Brian785 's comments as well. You may decide NOT to allow laundry use and just refer them to the closest laudromat.

My sympathy.

I used to allow guest to do laundry but no more.  

Too many similar issues or overloading the machine, running the dryer at high temp for hours to dry some big thick blanket, stinky fabric softner etc.                                     

It effects my power bill for sure & I cant stand my laundry to smell like anything but clean.

I truly dislike any perfume laced detergents that small like Mountain Meadow or French laundry Biscuit stinkum.  I use Free & clear also a 1/4 -1/2 cup of Pinesol. Cleans and disinfects and when dry it only smells clean. No pine scent at all.

Now I just tell them to use the local laundry mat with coin op machines.
