Re: temporary housing

Re: temporary housing

Hello,

Has anyone been approached with a 3 month temporary housing request? The company was supposedly hired by an insurance company and they want to book my house. I received a message from Airbnb telling me they had sent my house to them as a recommendation so this makes me think it is legit. Because it is for 3 months, it makes me worry about squatters or a scam. Any recommendations? Should I approve them on a 30 day basis only?

@Maria-Elena104 I can see no legitimate circumstance whereby Airbnb would message you in this way. If a company wants to book a listing they just do so in the normal way for a guest. Are you sure the message came from Airbnb?

@Mike-And-Jane0 I received a message through the Airbnb platform the way regular guests send them, but I also received emails from Airbnb directly telling me they had recommended my house and then another email asking me if about whether I ready to pre-approve. I emails are from express@airbnb.com

@Maria-Elena104 e mails from @airbnb.com are on the list of official emails so I guess it must be ok.

I would contact Airbnb and ask them if this was a legitimate request. They may be partnering with some companies to do this service. I have had some home owner insurance agents contact us on behalf of their clients asking questions about the space to house their client because of repairs that were going to be done for their client’s house. We answered all their questions but we did request them to have the client themselves do the booking if the space suited them. We had something like 8 messages back and forth over a 4 week period and their client didn’t boom because our space got booked before they made a decision. It was for a longer stay too. I guess it takes a while to coordinate the contractors.
