Renovations on my booking

I booked an airbnb and there are renovations being done on the balcony and the entire building. I was informed, but only a day before coming that I wouldn't be able to go on the balcony, but that's all. Turns out, the balcony had been demolished and is currently being re-built, as well as floors and such on the entire building. That means that it is not only extremely loud, but also not giving us privacy, as there are people outside our window and door every day, from 6am to at least 10am.

 

Is this a violation from the host? Should I contact airbnb?

I would contact Airbnb and explain you were not told about the on-going construction and would not only ask for a refund, but ask them to help you find another accomodation. The Host should have informed you of the construction noise.
