I requested a reservation yesterday and now the 24 hours for the host to respond is almost over. How many hosts do this? Once the 24 hours is up can I request the reservation again. It seem like it is just common courtesy for the host to respond.

For future reference if the host doesn't respond in a timely manner you can withdraw your booking request @Les9026
You can see a host's response time on their listing. Many will reply within a few hours if it's during their working day. It would be unusual I would suggest if a host hadn't replied within 24 hours. Does the host have recent reviews? What does their response time say? Are you booking with a property management company or an individual host?
You are absolutely right, @Les9026 .
As a frequent traveler it sucks if hosts don’t answer. Especially if I have a voucher, I learned to send inquiries instead of booking request. Too often, hosts deny (open calendar) or don’t answer.
It’s a small comfort only, that the host’s calendar will get blocked if he doesn’t respond in timely manner.
