Why are guests only given 14 days to post a review on thier stay?  I wasn't even home from my vacation yet when the time allotment expired.

@Barbara3036 There needs to be a cut off time due to the blind nature of reviews. Reviews are only posted after the earlier of both parties reviewing or 14 days. If this changed to 21 or 28 days a host or guest could avoid a bad review for longer by just not reviewing themselves.

I am impressed you went 14 days without accessing the internet though. Most people can't last 14 hours (minutes?)

@Barbara3036 On the other hand you can leave review about an hour after you have left , so it would have constantly come up on your phone. By the time 14 days has come around then the host could have had 14 guests.Hosts like to review while its all still fresh but you will still be able to respond to the hosts review up to 30 days , so thats just how it works ... @Barbara3036 and Barbara a review does not start until you actually finish your stay , so how long did it take to get home?... H

I stayed at 4 separate rentals over a 3 week period.  I visited multiple cities in two countries.  I didn't want to spend my vacation time filling out reviews as I was moving from one rental to another.  Had I known about the deadline maybe I would have made an effort. My reviews may be helpful to others who are considering staying there in the future.  I always read the reviews before booking.  Airbnb's competitors do not have a 14 day deadline to submit a review.

@Barbara3036 - Reviews are extremely helpful, both to and for Guests as well as to and for Hosts, and whilst I accept that 14 days isn't that long after one has vacated a property, I do feel that the longer one puts off writing a review - for whatever reason - not only does the impetus to write something gradually fade, but if nothing's written within the first 7 days (and I have a far stranger memory than most, as i lost most of mine years ago, and also have problems with concentration) I'll have forgotten what actually happened, and when, what I thought of the place, who I spoke to, and lots of other things I did, saw, etc, as they all fade away!

Whilst I'm not suggesting that Airbnb have based their 14-days-to-leave-a-Review condition on me (!) I would suggest that in general, many wouldn't remember all of the salient points after 7 days, unless they actually wrote down what they wanted to say.

Of course, I accept that because of my condition, I may well be wrong. I also don't know whether there's an average time that reviewers' - both Guests and Hosts - take, before writing/posting what they've written, although as a SuperHost it appears to me that the majority of our Guests write theirs almost immediately they've returned home!

Something else I would wish to add, is that I must be the world's worst reviewer (a bit like this reply!) as what I write tends to be long! Honest, yes, but long? oh my, oh my - definitely!  whilst in all reality,  maybe I should still be honest, but far more succinct!

Have you tried asking Airbnb as to whether you would still be able to leave your reviews? Have you explained to them the "why's"? or have to said to them what you wrote on here? i.e. "My reviews may be helpful to others who are considering staying there in the future"

Are you also aware that it's only when both Guests and Hosts have left reviews for each other, that each of their reviews are published for all to see, but that if only one review is left, the other won't ever see what's been written, nor will anyone else?!

Hope you did have a great stay at each of the Countries, Cities and Rentals, and I don't know whether I'm speaking/writing out of turn here, but I believe you should still be able to leave a review for an Airbnb property on a certain major search engine!

@John2406  That's actually incorrect. When only one party leaves a review, it is published after 14 days. The other party does get to see it, even if they didn't leave a review.

If what you stated was the case, then every time I had a guest I felt wasn't pleased, in theory I could avoid a bad review by not writing one myself. Alas, that's not how it works.

@Barbara3036  Presumably you had access to the Internet during your vacation? You had 14 days to review, which seems like plenty of time. I wouldn't place the blame on AirBnB....

You don't need to be at home to leave a review @Barbara3036  you can log on and leave a review from anywhere that has internet access.
