Can school groups book an AirBnb for a weekend if they have enough chaperones and book through the school adult? My principal said there are concerns with insurance and safety. Can this be handled in some way or what have other student groups done?

@Jaime786 this is a good question for our page. @Breanna has asked for my thoughts which are as @Ruth413 mentioned are you a guest/parent or host?
* My next question is the number of guests staying to fit the accommodation of number allowed?
* How many adults and number of students?
* Insurance @Ruth413 has mentioned the school should have cover for activities outside the school. As to host they should their own Insurance cover for property.
* Asking times or comings and goings as @Helen744 has mentioned?
* Noise factor with neighbours as students can be excited after a win and noise travels at night. So I would let neighbours know in advance. If they are good neighbours they will chat with them if they happen to see them and add encouragement with their game.
* Ask for the names and ages of the students for registration and for welcome note?
I am sure there could be more suggestions as to where the accommodation is: such as pool or equipment on the premises.
@Jaime786 you have given us food for thought.
Hi @Jaime786
This may be a good one to ask some experienced Hosts to weigh in on. @Laurelle3, @Debra300, @Ann72, @Ruth413 any thoughts about school groups booking for a weekend?
It's been so many years since my school days, but I do recall that parents had to sign permission slips that allowed the school to take their children off of school grounds, and as @Ruth413 said, the school should have its own insurance to cover for these events.
In addition to first communicating with the host about who will be in the travel group, and get approval for the reservation. Some points to consider are to ensure that the total number of the group doesn't exceed Airbnb's 16 guest limit, and the group doesn't have a party. Here's information on Airbnb's Party Ban policy.
@Jaime786 Are you asking from a guests or hosts perspective ?
If from a guests, I would think it totally depends on the host if they are happy with that, so communication is key. I think you would need to be very upfront about it so a host doesn't get a shock when you arrive.
Regarding insurance and safety if it is a school booking surely the school would have their own insurance cover for school trips and it would be down to the school to pick the correct place for safety. Again communicate with the host as much as possible if you have any concerns.
@Jaime786 If the school does the booking and it is in the name of adults accompanying said group , it should be fine , as long as the amount of children plus adults does not exceed the number of persons permitted. I have had some sporting groups , such as basketballers travelling with parents , not necessarily their own, but they tend to want to cram extra students in and sleep in the living areas as well , by saying there seems to be plenty of room. Also they like to arrive late at night for games in the mornings. As I like to meet all guests , this is also not satisfactory. All around it is do able depending on the type of accommodation but maybe not something a host would feel comfortable doing... H
@Jaime786 The core understanding here is for it to not be a third party booking . In other words the adult or chaperoning adult doing the booking must also travel with the group and assume responsibility for the whole group... H
