I am new at hosting on Airbnb and my previous quest seemed to be smoking weed in my backyard patio. There were also smoking cigarettes in the front and back yard. The guest only registered 2 guests for the reservation but there were about 10 people in and out of the property throughout the day. When I entered the home after they checked out, I could smell weed smell in the house. My house rules state no smoking or use of illegal drugs on the premises. They also parked in my neighbor’s driveway as there were three different cars in and out throughout the day. I messaged them to please remove the car parked in the neighbor’s driveway immediately as my neighbor messaged me about the car in her driveway. They repeated the same thing again the next day and my neighbor had to talk through her camera to have them remove their car and they did. I had to message the guest again to refrain from parking in the neighbor’s driveway which they never responded to my message.
Please advise on how I should diplomatically word my review.
It all depends how tolerant you are of total flakes, which stonies tend to be. Not mean-spirited per se, but definitely goofballs. I am at a total loss how to review them. How do you say: "These stonies are real flakes", politely?
P.S. I bet 1/3 of my guests are really bonafide alcoholics, judging by the stacks of crates with beer & liquor going to and from the island during their stay; but since I don't get to see it and there are no neighbors to content with, it is all a moot point because I get them to pay before they start to drink.
@Jeff2303 I have to disagree with @Fred13 in labeling "stoned" individuals who disregarded the rules even after being corrected as "goofballs." They violated multiple rules; they smoked on and possible in the property, had more guests than the registered number, and continually parked in your neighbor's driveway despite being told not to. They are adults, who agreed to set rules upon booking, and as adults they are responsible for abiding by those rules, despite being high. I would mark them down in the appropriate categories and leave an honest review.
"XXXX arrived with additional guest that were not disclosed in the reservation. They violated multiple house rules and communication was poor. Additionally, their stay resulted in extra cleaning, due to smoking in the home. I cannot recommend XXX at this time."
I described who I think they really are, how to review them is another story. I am sure I would come up with something quite punchy if I ever had to review such fruitcakes.
P.S. I thought they smoked in the patio, not in the house, and had people come in and out during the day. It is important for a host to be very straight with their assertions; otherwise they lose the high moral ground immediately.
Thank you for your suggestions!
@Jeff2303
This would be my review based on what you wrote:
"Unfortunately [Guest] was very difficult to host. Their communication left a lot to be desired as they invited nearly a dozen unregistered and undisclosed guests who kept parking in the neighbors' driveways and ignored communication to cease and desist. It was immediately obvious they violated my No Smoking policy as soon as I entered the home. They are not welcome here again and I strongly urge other hosts to decline them."
1* for House Rules (Smoking, unregistered guests)
1* for Communication (ignoring communication regarding parking in neighbor's driveway)
no more than 3* for cleanliness due to smoke odors in the house.
[X] Would not host again.
You stated everything very concisely.
thank you!
