Strange Bloody Experience

Strange Bloody Experience

Hi dear Hosts,

I am wondering if someone had a similar case: a guest/ a man checked in, after two hours my bathroom was fool sprayed with blood. I was even not normal, there were blood speckless on a wall, trash can and the floor. I cleaned before he came and was upset that I needed to clean again. I thought something bad happened to him, but no, he went to the party and after he came back we talked, he never complained and I didn't wanted to make him feel uncomfortable, he also mentioned that he likes my place. He looked absolutely fine. Next morning I got a shock, more blood all over, this time it was even on the toilet, in the toilet, walls, floor, bathtub and trash can again, I have never seen anything like that! And it was already dark, because dried. Me and my other guest were terrified. It took me again 1h to clean the restroom. Id this some sort of prank guests do at the moment to hosts? Did someone encountered anything like that?

Should I report it to airbnb?

I’ve never heard of anything like this.

Maybe he’s intentionally cutting himself, which is not unheard of, but you should not be expected to deal with it.

People that do this need psychiatric help.

There is a risk of blood-born diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis. I would ask him to leave immediately.

ok, I am calling airbnb now. I am sick of everyone. and everyone's abuse.

@Elisabeth40, It's October, so Halloween season.

Was there any evidence perhaps the guest was attending Halloween events?

Has the possibility of Fake Blood which can look very real been considered, and eliminated?

Check the rubbish bins on your property for any receptacles that may be used for these tricks of the trade..
Weird things happen all over the world in this month..

Your post reminded us of our fun-times at Dracula's in Melbourne, Victoria..

this was blood.

Your guest may have cancer. Or halloween fake blood as suggested. Another possibility is self harm as suggested. Please do not leap to conclusions but maybe there is some way to politely ask what happened or what is it.

I have no idea and I don't want to know what it is. I don't care, or I care the same much as he does care about me.

@Elisabeth40 This requires asking the guest what the heck? You can’t spray blood all over a shared space in an Airbnb and ignore it. This is a health and safety hazard/issue. Perhaps it may be necessary to send the guest a new checkout date…

well airbnb suggests not to ask. I actually contacted them and asked them exactly this. They basically say, we suggest you not to ask but you can ask. You know yourself how it will end, if I ask the guest goes in the protection mode and gives me a bad review. I experienced it well too often. I just stopped pointing out to guests things I don't like. they get always angry. I don't have time to deal with everyone's reaction, some react so bad, that it takes me days to recover emotionally. They will find their teacher somewhere else.

experiencing this anger and think about all their reactions, NO, I can invest my time somewhere better and be happy. I am not getting paid to hold the mirror. But I do believe everyone finds his/her teacher one day: a person who will have enough energy and time to give a lesson.

It’s just too bizarre.

Spraying blood or anything similar around a shared bathroom without making any effort to clean up is just not an acceptable habit.

I have to wonder if this guest is trying to provoke a reaction. It’s incredible to imagine that he thinks no one would notice.

@Brian2036 Yes, no matter what the reason, whether real or fake blood, or whatever is going on, ignoring it is sketchy AF.

I’m wondering if it could have been caused by someone sneezing with blood in the nasal passages.

Still not acceptable, and could be indicative of illegal drug abuse.

I was scared he fell and hit himself, but no, he didn't. I never seen anything like that in my entire life. I am kind of lost my fate in people after all this years hosting. My second guest says, he tried to clean it up but left over what I saw. Traumatizing.

I’m curious about what you did with this guest and what the CS response was, if any.
