Hi there,
With the easing of restrictions next week for the fully vaccinated only, I'm wondering whether I need to ask my guests whether they are vaccinated. Advice I received from NSW Health is that I have an obligation to ensure that guests are not breaching restrictions, so I wonder now that only fully vaccinated people are allowed to travel between LGAs, if I have a guest coming from another LGA do I need to ask the question? What are others doing?
I'm not interested in people's personal beliefs around the vaccination as that's irrelevant, I just don't want to risk a fine.
Would love to know how other hosts in NSW are managing this
Thanks Gemma
Good question, @Gemma5! Like you, we're NSW-based hosts. And like you, this is a bit of a puzzle for us, especially as short-term rentals in NSW aren't subject to the check-in requirements like hotels, holiday parks, and guest houses are.
I think we have little choice but to note on our listings that we will request verified evidence of double vaccination via the Medicare app (or medical exemption). But from what I can tell, we could only do that up to 1 December, after which check-in and proof of vaccination are no longer required. That said, the NSW Roadmap makes it clear the ability to travel is only for fully vaccinated people.
It's not adequately clear in my view.
Steve
To be honest @Stephen1156 the guidance looks very clear to me.
When we had restrictions in the UK I added them to my house rules and up front in my listing so I suggest you and @Gemma5 do the same.
Something like 'in line with local Covid regulations we will need you to provide evidence that you have been double vaccinated on booking if you are travelling from outside of our state in order for us to be able to confirm your booking. Please send us a copy of your vaccination certificates (or whatever you get in Australia). We will not be able to accept guests for check in who do not provide this'.
Perfect, Helen
thanks Helen for your suggestion
