Tax Exempt Organization? How do I book to get this?

How do I book a stay for a school related event that has to be tax exempt? I tried contacting Airbnb and did not get a response. Any suggestions/ideas? The school I work for will not let me book if we are taxed.

Hi Amy, you don't mention which state or country you are in. But I guess you are talking about sales tax? I think you will find most Air BNB hosts are belong the limits for sales tax.

I'm guessing you are concerned your organisation will not be able to recover sales tax costs 

Suggest you raise your question with hosts when you enquire.

@Amy2901  Is the school credit card going to be used to pay for the booking?  Did they provide you with a tax-exempt certificate/letter to submit to the host?   Does the school have an AirBnB account?

To my knowledge, as a host, I would have no way of preventing AirBnB from collecting the taxes owed to my State, County and Municipality when you book my property.  I would probably have to suggest that you rent a hotel room instead.

Yes, it would be a school credit card and I provided a tax-exempt letter to the Airbnb organization and have not heard back. It would be Wisconsin, USA for tax exemption.
