The New "Today" Tab Feedback

I would like to briefly share how I understand the new Today tab and where I believe it needs improvement.

At the top, there are two options: Today and Upcoming. When Upcoming is pressed, a new window opens with an animation. The title says "You have XX upcoming reservations" and in my case, 27 reservations, which are listed chronologically. This part makes a lot of sense and is easy to follow.

Now, going back to the Today tab.

It says "You have 4 reservations." This is misleading because these are not all check-ins. Two of them are new check-ins today, and the other two are existing guests who stayed last night and are staying again tonight.

Each new check-in shows 3:00 p.m., which is confusing. It looks like all guests are arriving at the same time. The 3:00 p.m. data seems to be pulled from the start of the check-in window, but it is not helpful. No guest arrives exactly at 3:00 p.m., especially since the guest has already mentioned exactly when they will arrive, and it is not 3:00 p.m. Sometimes they arrive earlier, sometimes much later.

As for existing guests, the tab says "All day." But all day what?
This is unclear and, as far as I know, not even standard hospitality language.

My suggestion:

Create three clear sections within the Today tab:

You have X check-ins today
Either remove the time completely if it is generic, or improve it by scanning guest messages and showing the actual time they mentioned. For example, if a guest says they will arrive at 5:00 p.m., there is no point in displaying 3:00 p.m. in the tab. If Airbnb does not want to scan messages, then simply remove the 3:00 p.m. time, which is meaningless.

You have Y current guests
Replace "All day" with something useful, like "Check-out in X days" for ongoing stays. Sort these entries chronologically, so that guests checking out tomorrow appear before guests checking out in five days.

You have Z check-outs today
Here, I would use the guest's information to show whether they have already checked out or not. That way, we know which guests are still in the property.

Now about requests:

Hosts with many listings are looking for efficiency, not animation gimmicks. The new update displays requests as a stack of magic cards or flash cards that must be pressed to reveal their contents. It is beautiful, but redundant, and it slows down the process. This is not a game. This is a business.

Consider not spending time developing fancy animations for hosts. It reminds me of Clippy from early Windows or other attempts in the late twentieth century to make interfaces look cute. I would like to point out that the ChatGPT interface is very simple, and that is part of what makes it effective. Efficiency is what users are really looking for.

I only use Airbnb and this is my humble way to contribute based on my daily experience as a host. Please do not take this as criticism. It is simply a suggestion and a bit of feedback that I hope might be helpful. I also understand that others may see things differently, but I wanted to share my perspective in case it resonates with others.

Other Hosts have complained the new Today Tab in the App is confusing.

I'm doubtful Airbnb will be able to capture actual guest check-in...they are simply displaying the check-in time set on the listing(s). Would be nice, though.
