I’ve reported a review given by someone who booked on behalf of his wife. Airbnb responded by saying “review disputes are based solely on the content of the review which pertains to the users experience (Host or guest) and not how the reservation was made.” This is very confusing since airbnb policy says that reviews are based on “personal experience,” and so if this person never stayed, how can they share personal experience?
@Robin1421 Did you know at booking that it was for the wife? If you did, you accepted a third party booking, which is against the rules. Unfortunately, because the booking was accepted and completed, the husband who booked has the right to submit a review. I am sorry that this happened to you.
Thanks for the reply. We didn’t know of course. They kept saying he will join her and at the end he never did. He simply said it was because of “safety” reasons why they said he would come.
@Robin1421 My apologies. From what you have written, they booked as a couple, but he did not join her. So it was not a third party booking as he was supposed to also be a guest.
@Lorna170 When we and airbnb spoke to him he was in the UK. So not sure if he was suppose to join her. Technicalities aside, my question is, since he never stepped foot inside the property, is it not considered to be biased and beyond “personal experience?” I’m trying to clarify this. Thanks.
