Past three weekends were booked and subsequently canceled. Two weekends ago was booked, canceled, rebooked and canceled again (same guest)- lost income of a 4 night stay. This was thru Airbnb’s “firm” cancelation policy which allows free cancelation within 48 hours of booking.
Another possible guest wanted to see the property first. While this is typically not allowed, I gave her a date and time that was convenient for me. She changed the time twice- the second time I explained to her this is not how Airbnb works. You look at the pictures, you read the reviews, & you book. You don’t get to tour the house first. That could be a red flag for a party or other rule violation.
Last weekend was booked for 2 nights on Monday thru another online booking site with their recommended “relaxed” cancellation policy which doesn’t allow for any refund within 7 days of arrival. Two days later I get an email that guest needs to cancel and is demanding a full refund. After a six hour back and forth with guest and host customer service I was forced to issue full refund or risk them giving the address and lockbox code to someone else not on the reservation and for sure a bad review just for spite.
This weekend I got booked on Airbnb and guest immediately canceled when I couldn’t positively confirm that I never use any Lysol, windex, bleach, tide, or dryer sheets (I don’t use windex or tide and I use unscented dryer sheets) and Couldn’t provide an exact depth of my cast iron bathtub. she also wanted to invite a massage therapist over for a couple of hours. I’ve never had a two hour massage in my life; Usually 30-90 minutes.
Another guest left an 8/10 on other online booking site with no written review and no communication during their stay other than the usual what’s the WiFi password?
August is always a slow time of year in Bisbee AZ but this isn’t slow, I’m getting bookings and then cancelled. anyone else in AZ experiencing this too? Is this happening anywhere else in the country?
