Total price

I don't want to see PART of the price, I want to see the price including all taxes fees and charges. How can I select "book" when I haven't even been total the total fee I'm up for.

When will the pricing on Airbnb become transparent?

Hi @Rebecca2123 when you select a listing, proceed as if you are going to book it. Enter the number of guests and your travel dates. Airbnb will then provide a detailed breakdown of the costs. And then before finalizing the booking, you'll see the total price on the "confirm and pay" page. This includes the base rate, cleaning fee (if applicable), service fee, and any taxes. The service fee is a percentage of the total cost and varies per booking. Taxes depend on local regulations and are also added to the total. You will have the option to review your booking details, dates, number of guests, etc. on this page before confirming and paying. Hope this helps!

I am having same problem, why airbnb don't show how much taxes clearly? something intentionally hide?

For example, I am looking at this one ,

I don't see anywhere there mentioned taxes. Is taxes included in the service fee?  but i searched airbnb service fee it said it's taxes excluded.

So where is the taxes and how much ? it causes anxiety and not able to book.

@Rebecca2123 what country are you looking in? If Europe then, assuming you have added dates, you will see a fully inclusive price. In the USA I believe there is a toggle that lets you seen almost full price - Just the taxes are not included as apparently this is US law. I have no idea how other countries work.

In both USA and Australia, you don't see the full price including taxes. Yes, you can choose to see "almost" the full price. But who wants to know "almost" what they are paying?

@Rebecca2123

It would be very unlikely that Munich, Germany doesnt have some sort of tax on short term rentals. However, I looked at another listing in Munich, and it didn't have any taxes showing either. I would look at some other listings in Munich and see what you find.

You can always message the Host and ask why you're not seeing any taxes disclosed on the reservation. You can also contact Airbnb and ask.

Here is Airbnb's info about Occupancy Taxes in Germany and Munich is not mentioned:

You've addressed this reponse to the wrong person..... I am not, and haven't been, looking at places in Munich. Besides which, my original complaint is that the prices shown when searching are not inclusive of all charges and there's no way to choose to see the full price except by starting a booking and then ending it when you don't like the price. That's got nothing to do with whether Munich accommodation is taxed. I agree that it probably is.

@Rebecca2123

My apologies, I meant my reply for @Xinming2 .

So basically, you are saying you understand that you can see taxes on a booking, but aren't happy that it's a two-step process to see the final price.

Vrbo has a two-step process as well. You have to either click "Book Now" or "Price Details" to see taxes. Don't know about Booking.com. So I guess if you want to book on either Airbnb or Vrbo, you'll have to click twice to see the final price including taxes:

I did ask one host and he does not know, he told me all taxes and fees are included in the Airbnb service fee, it's so confusing.

If they do have taxes and fees , how do we as guest pay? to whom? to host? to airbnb?

Why airbnb don't make it clear like other sites?

You don't have to separately pay the taxes to anyone. Generally, either the host or Airbnb must pay it, and the amount payable eventually appears when you get to the final stage of the booking process. If it says "includes tax" that's what it means. Most countries with a VAT/GST use tax-inclusive pricing. The problem is that Airbnb doesn't show you that price up front so it's hard to know what the real price is until you get to the end of the booking process. They are not going to add charges later, unless you alter your booking.
