Unjust enrichment by Hosts for superficial marks on couch

Hello!

Would love some advice here on how to further proceed.

I stayed at a home with my dog which didn’t allow pets.

I didn’t realize this and asked the host to cancel. The hosts said he’d charge $25 per day.

The couch is a fabric and his claws left a few marks on the couch. Literally if you smooth over the fabric it doesn’t show.

The host is charging me for a new couch saying that they have to buy an entirely new one for whatever inane reason. Couch is completely intact—literally no normal person can notice the marks.

I appealed and now AirBnB is charging me $1000 for the damages.

I appealed again but was denied.

Thoughts on how to move forward?

Hi @Joseph2788

Contact Airbnb Support again (via chat or phone) and ask to escalate the case to a supervisor or specialist, emphasizing that the couch is intact and only has normal wear that doesn’t affect usability.

Share photos or videos showing that the “damage” disappears when you smooth the fabric.
