Used to always be booked but not anymore

I'm hearing news reports that Airbnb is imploding. Is this just a temporary thing or will it get better. I keep lowering my prices(not as low as Airbnb suggests but lower than other listings in the area). I'm a super host and now I'm wondering if I should sell the house.

@Ann10 I think the opposite is happening. Short term rental properties are actually exploding in numbers which means, sadly, that as the guest market is not growing at the same rate the bookings/property will be down. Airbnb doesn't really care (as long as its market is growing) that each individual host is not doing so well. Once all the new hosts understand that there is saturation in many markets the numbers of properties will drop and we will all make good money again.

I agree with you that the number of hosts has exploded. I just wonder how long it will take to get back to normal.

@Ann10 An interesting question. We have hosted since 2018 and between us taking time to renovate 3 apartments, Covid, and friends booking for a total of a year after their house burnt down this year is actually our first 'normal' year.

I think we will see a reduction in properties available fairly soon. With higher interest rates and rentals those people who have over extended themselves will, sadly for them, fall by the wayside. Of course something else may then come along to change the market again!
