Vancouver BC rentals moving forward.

I’ve booked a rental in Vancouver for later this year, and I’ve heard of the new short-term rental rules in BC. 

is it correct that I need to inquire if my host has proper business licenses in place or if they will by the time my stay starts? am I correct in understanding without business licenses, and if stays are shorter than 90 days I’m at risk for sudden cancellation by the host? 

im hoping for some understanding of the law to help me fill in the gaps in my knowledge. I’ll make my own decision regarding my travel plans - hoping to intake more information here in the meantime.
