Hello everyone. Im "Ty" and i have 2 ABB's at the beach in South Carolina. 1 at Myrtle Beach and another is on a private Isla...
I had an inquiry this week that really made me scratch my head. The guest sent an inquiry, asking if they could check in late, at 11 pm. I said absoltely no problem: we have self-check-in, and you can check in anytime that suits you after 3 pm. They went ahead and booked, adding a second night to their reservation. Then I got an email from them, saying oh no, we weren't asking if we could check in late, we were asking if we could check in the night before at 11 pm. I was gobsmacked, and responded that it wasn't possible, because we have someone staying the night before they arrive who will be checking out at 11 am, and the earliest they could check in would be 1 pm on the date their reservation starts. I also let them know that if that wouldn't work out for them, they were welcome to cancel the reservation, as the free cancellation window is still open.
I just can't believe that someone would ask to check in the night before they booked for, and I was wondering what kind of weird, interesting, or cheeky requests you've received from guests, and how you've dealt with them.
I have two dogs and not only do I say in the description that I have two dogs, my third picture is of the dogs. Recently had a guest try and make a reservation for five. When I asked if everybody in the party was OK with dogs I was told one of them is terrified of dogs and literally screams when she sees them. The guest asked me to make sure my pups "were put away" when they checked in. Uh, nope! I suggested they look elsewhere.
I've got three cats and I've had a guest who stayed for a week who was clearly terrified of them. In the first five minutes of the welcome tour she must have asked me ten times, "Will they bite or scratch me?". It didn't seem to matter how many times I told her they wouldn't. She would literally jump in the air if a cat walked across the other side of the room.
The problem is that I didn't know this when she requested to book. In fact, she even told me "I'm not afraid of cats." In hindsight, that should have been a giveaway as I never asked her if she was afraid of them!
@Susan I had a guest who instant booked, then told me her mother was absolutely terrified of dogs. Like terrified to even see them on the street. I have 2 x 85 lb dogs, who are clearly shown in my listing. The flat is a seperate space, but they are still on the same property, and you can see the dogs out the windows when they're in the backyard. I just wondered why a guest would choose to stay in a property with dogs. I found it really bizarre. Why not just choose one of the many places that are dog-free?
I'm fairly confident I win this thread:
@Tony134 Holy hell... do you think this person was trolling you or what? That's a giant nope.
@Tony134 I guess there's a guest/host match for almost everything. Believe it or not, I'd actually accept this booking, except I wouldn't qualify as I don't have AC. I find insects and spiders fascinating and would love to have an entymologist book my place.
@Tony0. I give it to you! You won this thread. The spides won't escape, airconditioned space, and no movement from other people. Holy Mackerel!
Yeah good times. She wasn't trolling either, you can see she had 21 good reviews already.
Blimey.....only 21 good reviews.....the mind boggles!
or was this interest in spiders fairly recent, prior to her booking request with you?
Dear potential guest
Heat, madam!
It is so dreadful here, with my broken down air conditioning ,that I found there was nothing left for it, but to take off my flesh and sit on my bones, which will rattle and may cause minor inconvenience.😉
It could be the two cups of coffee I had after dinner but I may never stop laughing about this @Victoria567.
I propose that forevermore when we have a bad guest that we imagine @tony ‘s spider measurer guest and @Victoria567 ‘s Removed my skin and sat on my bones response.
I’ll never be the same.
