What happened to the filter for waterfront?

Is it no longer possible to search for waterfront properties? It's a key aspect I look for since I like to canoe and prefer access from the property. The filter got hard to find and now seems to have disappeared entirely.

Yes...Airbnb removed the categories filters in April. I'm told it was to make room for The new Services rollout. Not sure why they just didn't add some of the more popular categories (like waterfront) to the search filters, but they haven't so far.

You can try using HomesToGo and search there. They have a couple filters that might work for you. It's for Vrbo listings, but many Airbnb Hosts also list on Vrbo. You can also try an internet search and use Kayak and Airbnb in the search field.

It is as inconvenient for all of us as it is for you, with the categories gone. We are all in a hurry to shop for what we want, and it is a drag to be without the categories. IMHO it was not such terrific decision to eliminate them. For me, it is like going to the store with my shopping list and finding that they took down all the signs on the aisles saying where to find I need. It is nt efficient.  I am not a recreational shopper or an impulse buyer, so wandering up and down aisles looking for the (waterfront listing) just gets me frustrated.  My guests are saying this to me and my friends who I normally travel with are unhappy too.

I would have thought Airbnb would add some addl filters if you were going to remove categories; at least for the popular categories. Surely they had the data?

Yes, I switched to AirBnB after a bad experience with VRBO, but the lack of ability to search on what I want will likely send me back to VRBO.

I would just find what you like on Vrbo and then look to see if the listing is also on Airbnb 😊
