What is the deadline to file a request for reimbursement? 14 days from reservation check out date? or actual check out date?

Answered!

What is the deadline to file a request for reimbursement? 14 days from reservation check out date? or actual check out date?

Does the clock start from the reservation's check out date? Or actual check out date? What if a guest does not check out in time and stays an extra day but there is no modification made on the Airbnb platform to the original reservation to reflect this?

Also, is the deadline to submit a request 14 days by the end of day or the time of checkout?

Thank you!

Hi @Ritchie28

Has this actually happened to you or are you just wondering? Well if a guest outstays his welcome without paying the extra day then you would need to call Airbnb on this breach of contract so that they are charged or we as hosts can send them the extra day fee. This would extend the 14 deadline normally to include this extra day but we always get notified by Airbnb to leave a review for our guests anyway so no chance of missing it with several reminders along the way.

I know that there are some hosts who get guests to pay them in cash if a guest wants to stay a day longer rather than going through Airbnb (against policies) so in this case, the clock would start ticking from the "official" check out time.  A dangerous thing to do for many reasons.

The deadline to submit a review is from time of check out and towards the end of those 14 days, you will have a timer showing you in the message stream how long you have left to go to submit.  Always refresh the page to bring the timer up to speed otherwise you could get caught out.

A good idea is to have your review prepared to go so that you don't get time out inadvertently.
