Hi everyone,
When travelling and searching for an Airbnb for a perfect staycation, you may come across a variety of listings and property types that you might want to explore. When travelling as a guest, do you go for an entire home or unit to have the place to yourself or prefer to go for an attached or detached apartment that has a private entrance? Or do you prefer shared homes? Do you specifically look for unique stays at rustic cabins or go for a modern apartment, located in the heart of the city?
We would love to hear from our Hosts, what type of accommodation do you prefer when travelling as guests 😉 🏘?
My pleasure , here a couple of teaser pictures of the ancient Scottish book which goes by the impressive name Selectus Diplomatum & Numismatum Scotiae Thesaurus.
It is a huge 18 inch by 11 inch , known as Elephant Portfolio sized, has 100's of pages many with very detailed engravings.
Also added a new post of another unique guest experience I'm getting ready - suspect you might like this also 🙂
Interested to know about hosts who offer optional ... - Airbnb Community (withairbnb.com)
It's simply brilliant and beautiful @Steve4021 ! Is this the correct translation of the title of this book "A selection of the Diplomas & Medals of Scotland." (I've tried to google translate it 😝)
Do you have to take special care to ensure the pages remain intact? I've heard that the older a book is, the more maintenance it requires to keep it preserved! 🤔
I noticed your other post earlier, and the Tiki bar looks so classic😍 Curious to see how other Hosts react to this beautiful piece of work! 😉
Your translation gets the basic gist but even the title understates what the book contains. Yep, is documents but the documents are exact replicates of every Scottish King's charter going back 100's of years.
Rather than just medals it is also an icon for coin collectors it has exact replicas of every coin made in Scotland at that point going back several hundred years. The coin images are engraved to exact size and to amazing detail. One of most spectacular ones I just attached is Mary Queen of Scots wedding coin when she was, for a brief period, heir to Scottish, English and French thrones. I can pretty much guarantee even most Scots have never seen this book or this coin.
Technically the book likely should be in a museum, and I may donate it at some point.
Fortunately living in Colorado, the extra dry climate is perfect for an old book like this,
Thank you so so much for sharing this with us @Steve4021 ! It's absolutely thrilling to hear about this book and looking at the intricate historical designs. Historical architecture and items are one of my favorite aspects that I love to explore! Sometimes, I so much wish we had a time machine, haha 😆
No wonder the guests you mentioned earlier , were mesmerized by the beauty of it 😍
Thanks again for sharing this wonderful gem with us! 🎉
Very much depends on whom I am travelling with - if it's my entire family or a friend group, budget considerations play a large role. The less people, the more personal preferences. And sometimes work pays 🙂 Since we travel in many countries from Europe to Asia, Africa and America, accommodation preference also depends on what the localities have to offer, which differs from a tree house without electricity to the equivalent of a 4-star hotel.
Thanks for sharing @Helen3223 , many Hosts have shared a similar approach in the comments below! It is so thrilling to hear that you've travelled across several countries already 😍 Do you have any memorable stories to share with us from your travel diaries? 🎉
Since you've experienced the hospitality of Hosts from across the globe, have you been influenced by their hosting style?
The crucial thing is location location location. Then price.
Absolutely @Prue0 ! Do you often look for countryside listings or prefer a city location? 😉
This is a pretty daft question. Many hosts are wealthy compared to their guests. They have spare rooms or spare houses! The market as a whole has a majority who are not so lucky. They- and I - start with location because I want to visit somewhere something or someone- maybe friends or family, maybe a wedding or funeral, maybe a gallery or seaside or both.....Next comes size..... how many and who.... then price. As a guest I with Airbnb I have mostly stayed in cities but outside of Airbnb have stayed by the sea or in the country for family gatherings. I am in favour of the variety offered by Airbnb but feel that the shift towards relatively high end houses is alienating a much larger less demanding demographic including contractors students and many others with less disposable income for whom Airbnb at the simpler end is the only way they can afford to travel.
Hello Bhumika,
I prefer an entire home with privacy, not having a neighbor too close. Coffee is a must, so having coffee, creamers and comfy beds....
Thanks for sharing @Isabel5113 ! Haha, having a refreshing cup of coffee and related amenities sounds like must haves during the stay! ☕ Do you often provide similar beverages in your listing for guests?
Based on your guest experiences, have you noticed if Hosts provide a variety of coffee options or like to keep it simple?
Absolutely! I do provide a variety of flavors, different strokes for different folks. 🙂
I provide waters, a fruit basket (bananas and oranges) with a welcome card with fresh flowers in the kitchen.
I have not experienced different coffee options where I have stayed. Thank you for your response!
Thanks for sharing these insights @Isabel5113 ! Welcome cards are definitely Host favorites 😍 What do you specifically write in your welcome card? Do you have any tips about it for our new Hosts?
It depends on where I am traveling to. I like views, and comfort. Cleanliness first.
Hi @Renee740 , Have you had a chance to stay at Airbnb's that offered breathtaking views of be it mountains ,forests or sea view 🌊 ?
What amenities do you specifically look to ensure you have a comfortable stay? 😉 Have you noticed other Hosts offer certain amenities, which you've incorporated to your listing as well?
