Where's the Check-In Guide on the Updated Airbnb App?

Unfortunately guests and I can't find where the check in instructions are anymore. I was using a series of pictures and instructions on how to get it. I can find it in the hosts listing setup but I cannot find it in the guests app. I used to send the airbnb guests a direct link https://www.airbnb.com/reservation/check-in-guide/1 . but this doesn't work anymore either. Have had numerous issues since the update with guests now having troubles finding the properties.

Hi @Desmond28

To update your Arrival Guide on the Airbnb app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Airbnb app.
  2. Switch to Hosting Mode by tapping the profile icon and selecting “Switch to hosting.”
  3. Tap on “Listings” from the bottom menu.
  4. Select the listing you want to update.
  5. Scroll down and tap on “Listing Editor.”
  6. Then tap on “Arrival Guide.”

From there, you can edit key arrival information such as:

  • Check-in instructions (including lockbox or smart lock codes)
  • Directions to your property
  • Parking information
  • Wi-Fi details
  • Photos of entry points or landmarks for easier navigation

Yes I can edit it from the host side, but guests have not been able to open the instructions with the step by step photo instructions with captions.

@Desmond28

Unfortunately, Airbnb decided to change what Hosts were using (the direct link to the Arrival Guide) a few months back. Now it is tied to the actual reservation and not the Arrival Guide on the listing, so that previous link doesn't work.

You'll have to tell guest to go to the App:

Trips tab

Tap Photo of Listing

Checking-in

How to Get Inside

Your Arrival Guide with photos should be there 48hrs prior to arrival.

Many Hosts also send a check-in message with all the info as well. We can add photos to Scheduled Messages now.

Thank you, i will start sending guests this information and maybe start sending scheduled messages with photos as well.

@Desmond28

BTW...adding photos to scheduled messages on the desktop has some bugs since the update...seems to work fine in the App.

Hi @Desmond28,

Thank you for raising this! You're not alone—many hosts are experiencing the same confusion with the new update. Airbnb's shift to tying the Arrival Guide to each individual reservation (instead of a shareable link) has created some challenges, especially for guests unfamiliar with navigating the app.

Thanks to @Joan2709 and @Patricia2526 for the great step-by-step tips!

Here’s a quick version you can copy-paste into a scheduled message for guests:

Hi [Guest Name],

To access your check-in guide:

Open the Airbnb App

Tap on the Trips tab

Tap on the photo of our listing

Go to "Checking-in" > "How to Get Inside"

All step-by-step instructions and photos are there. If you have any trouble, just message me—I’m happy to help!

Best,
[Your Name]

We also recommend creating a Scheduled Message within Airbnb and attaching entrance photos and instructions directly, especially while the desktop version is still buggy.

Thanks again for helping keep the Airbnb community strong and informed! 🙌

very nice write up, thank you.

@Desmond28 I'm having this issue with many guests as well, but not all of them. My running theory is that perhaps the guests that are clicking on check-in instruction link and seeing a blank screen are on an out-dated version of the airbnb app. But I have no evidence to back up this claim. It's been frustrating for our guests though and created extra work for me.
