"You can remove a review you’ve written if it no longer reflects your genuine experience as a guest or Host. You can reach out to our customer Support team with your request to remove a review you’ve authored."

Guests trashed my place. Gave me 5 stars. I gave them 1 star and requested money. Both reviews got posted.

They called airbnb and removed their 5 star review....

I contacted airbnb and they said anyone can remove their review at any time...

From now on if I don't need to ask for money I will always rate 5 stars.

And they want to have genuine community.... yeh right

@Vip72  under consumer law guests and hosts need to be offered the right to remove reviews

the only people you will be harming by leaving false five star reviews of bad guests are your fellow hosts who rely on the reviews of fellow hosts when choosing which guests to accept.

I know no such consumer laws in USA. Would love a link to it if you have one.

If you can't find guidance in your country let Google be your friend @Vip72

Thank you for your help and the i troduction to google.... but I kind of hoped that hosts that make those claims in US have this info. Otherwise they are petting themselves in the back and finding excuses not to act and demand answers from airbnb.

You asked a question. We explained that the ability to remove a review is due to consumer law not down to Airbnb policy.

We understand the aspect of consumer law in our country that affects this.

If you want to understand which aspect of consumer law affects this in your country it's up to you to do your own research rather than expecting hosts in other locations to do it for you. @Vip72

@Vip72 The host (or guest) losing one 5* review is not a disaster. To say you will only review people as 5* just because you lost one 5* review is ridiculous and will damage the host community and yourself if other people follow your lead.

You don't understand what I mean. It is Airbnb's responsibility to create rules that lead to healthy review system. I unfortunately do not own it. So instead of shooting the messenger (me) you and us should tell Airbnb to look at this and explain the stupid rule. Because I got news for you, the community exists for individuals not the other way around. Individuals will always but always do what's best form each of them.

@Vip72 Believe me I do understand you - I just do not agree with you. The Airbnb rules are set by both the company and the legal jurisdictions they operate in. Whilst legally they have to give the right to remove a review it really does not degrade the system in the least.

Send me a link where legaly they have to allow to remove the review.

@Vip72 You are becoming tiresome in your demands BUT in an attempt to stop this irritation please see the link below

The right to remove user generated content is about half way down the list.

I meant American. EU has much more government intervention into business. But since a healthy business environment is tiresome I relief you from this task. Thanks

@Vip72 There is nothing tiresome about a healthy business environment. Thankfully Airbnb does its best to apply rules worldwide. As an example they are trying to move to a total price model so that guests are not misled but this will take time in the US especially as taxes cannot be incorporated into the price. I am sure though that US law will catch up one day.
