No reviews. Staying to celebrate their "mini moon."
@Sarah977 yeah im the definition of ambivalent. I am torn up about selling the space but ecstatic about no more of these guests
Laura's cohosts 😄
@Amanda660 they have had a ton of questions and difficulties following instructions on various basic things. Can't open the flue. Left standing water in the copper sink instead of using the dishwasher (we ask people not to leave dishes sitting in the sink as it's harder to polish the copper.) Delivery issue. Can't find things listed in the house guide. Can't figure out the thermostat.
@Laura2592 are they checking out today? I feel your pain, it’s like guests are taking the last opportunity to torture you.

The challenge we all face as a society today is the lack of understanding by the younger generations, and those who have lived in countries quite different to our own, how those before us truly lived, within their means.
The average person has not ever learnt earlier history, as in simple things like what an Appliance is or how to use them, how they transmitted energy to them ( that of a wired circuit and Hot Point in a wall so the appliances could heat up to operate) or that things like a Sink were crafted of materials not commonly used or seen in homes today.
I'm guessing they have probably never stepped foot into a Museum of Transport and Technology, nor been raised to do the cleaning within an earlier period home.
The sooner the education sector has a shake up and systems change to include education with written paper printed books and periodicals from pre 1950 era with examples of real life in those eras in all countries the better.
Meanwhile, enjoy the browse through the Ladies Mirror Journals that was first written in 1922 and in subsequent years became known as The Mirror, that we stumbled on in our adventures...of reading up on the history of Home Improvements Regulations in the earlier eras.

Maybe those with earlier period Homes should print off a copy for Guests to browse during their stays, and schools should have copies of as part of their curriculum..
I'm curious why you don't allow deliveries of any kind.
Because
1. could be stolen goods
2. could be drugs
3. could be using your address for fraud ie credit cards
4. could be issues if deliveries go missing
@Brittney101 it's a terrible idea to allow guests to get mail at your address. It opens the door for establishment of squatters rights, scam residency for various credit card and benefits cons and an array of other serious issues. No one staying at a place for a few days should be getting mail or deliveries there. As I say, pizza is fine (we actually don't even have reliable pizza delivery where my cottage is located) but that's where we draw the line.

There are dump people everywhere.
