Wow... Two weeks into hosting... beware of the scammers!

As a new host, it's exciting to receive a request for a long-term preapproval.  The flash of potential income alongside the message is exhilarating!  You think "wow...  this might all work out great!"  Then came the video request...  a short video of the layout of the apartment.  OK, might seem reasonable given someone's possible concern with accessibility.  Wishing to take business responsibility to provide what a guest may need is a good mindset so have.  After all, I'm essentially taking my photos and simply putting them in living format.  That's when the twist came.  I messaged the potential guest that I could accommodate once booked but they tried to steer me away from the platform to another method of correspondence.  I politely declined and that's that...  not sure of the angle but I don't intend to stick around to find out.

New Airbnb guest (one month) with no profile...  in disappointment, all I can do is report.  Stay vigilant!

Yes it's a common scam and scammers tend to target newer hosts . I wouldn't advise new hosts take longer term bookings until they build up their experience.

also in terms of reviews and ratings it's better to have more short term bookings.

i wouldn't advise new never send video content as it can be used by scammers who pretend they own the property to rent out.

report this scammer to Airbnb. @John8850
