back to back reservations

I am new to Airbnb.  I see, on my calendar, that the booked dates are marked out it black and the arrival and departure dates are gray.  I assumed that meant it was half day, but when someone wanted to come the same day my guest was leaving, Airbnb said the booking was not possible.  Should I not try to have a guest coming and going on the same day?

@Dottie17  Check your availability settings. You can certainly take back-to-back reservations if you choose, but it sounds like you have 1 day prep time set. Does it say Prep time anywhere on the calendar?

Or are you saying the guest told you he was unable to book that day? Or simply that it said "Not possible" ? Not possible doesn't mean the date wasn't available for booking- it means the guest withdrew his request or didn't follow through on a pre-approved Inquiry.
