communication

Hi all,

Fairly new to hosting and could use help on how to communicate to a guest that was not the person booking the reservation.  I have a daughter with a confirmed reservation for her parents to stay at our listing to celebrate their anniversary.  I don't know if her parents have an airbnb account.  So how will I be able to communicate the Directions, Check-in/Check-out instructions and House rules with her parents.  How will her parents be able to leave a review?

Thanks for any recommendations.

It's against Airbnb's T&C to accept third party bookings. The guests staying haven't signed up to your house rules. Airbnb won't necessarily be able to help you if there are issues. You won't know if the person staying has previous negative reviews and you can't share information with them directly @Vivian1468

I would have suggested the parents set up their own account.

now you will see other hosts take third party bookings but personally I don't think it's worth the risk.

you will have to asked the person who booked to share the information

Thank you @Helen3, I reached out to customer support and they said to have the primary booker invite her parents as a co-traverler once they opened an account.  This would add them to the message thread and they can read any current and past messages through the platform.  I agree, I then added to my house rules that Third party bookings are not allowed.  Hosts will still have to use their intuition and double check that someone doesn't falsely make a reservation.  I plan to inform this primary booker about the option to give Airbnb as a gift certificate, which allows the guests to choose their own location and housing rental. Appreciate your help!

Extremely helpful! Thanks @Elisa.

Thank you @Victor4351.  I do believe that the daughter may be helping her parents because of a language barrier as well as wanting to surprise her parents with a special anniversary gift.  She was able to invite her mom as a co-traverler however I don't know if her mom will be able to read them. It would be wonderful if guest can have their messages translated into different languages.

I will politely ask her daughter to leave a review on their behalf.

Feel free to review our listing, as I am always trying to find ways to communicate effectively.
